In this course, we begin our global engagement journey at Wesleyan. Students are introduced to the historic and theoretical context of intercultural competence. They apply this critically to a number of different concepts via guest speakers and readings, all the while writing reflections that can be posted on their own developing eportfolios. They engage in peer discussion and a main group project before preparing their final which is a practice personal statement for a fellowship of their choice. One favorite moment in the Fall 2022 course was our final dance lesson led by the amazing Professor Iddi Saaka.
